A take on the iconic Klondike Ice Cream Bar. Dark Chocolate Ice Cream dipped in 2 Ingredient Bittersweet Chocolate Magic Shell! What would you dooooOOOooo for a Klondi … Dark Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Bar? 😉 This iconic ice cream bar is one I grew up eating and it was so popular in our house we would keep three packages of those delicious square bars in the house at all times. In fact the only other ice cream we normally had were these Nestle Bon Bon bad boys! (Click the link for a truly hilarious 1980’s commercial on YouTube). Can you tell I was a child of the 80’s?  Back then it was vanilla or chocolate, now there are so many flavors you can’t even keep up anymore.

This recipe builds off of the Super Dark Chocolate Stracciatella Ice Cream I recently made and combines it with some homemade bittersweet chocolate magic shell and delicious chocolate Oreo cookie crumbs. The magic shell isn’t that kind you buy in the grocery store that has 352 ingredients and only works sometimes (60% of the time, it works every time!) This recipe for the magic shell has only 2.

Lets get started shall we?

If you are not using homemade ice cream you can make these by cutting through small pint sized containers of ice cream and making them into disks. I made these into disks by using a take-out soda cup that was clean and freezing the ice cream in it. When frozen solid I cut the cup into 1 inch disks and refroze. Finally I cut the paper off the disks and we were ready to dip. Keep only one ice cream patty out at a time. You want to dip these frozen solid so ice cream doesn’t start dripping into the chocolate shell sauce.A take on the iconic Klondike Ice Cream Bar. Sprinkle on Oreo crumbs if you would like.  Repeat with remaining ice cream disk and keep in the freezer until completely frozen again. The chocolate shell freezes seconds after it is out of the bowl, but I like to be on the safe side, so I always refreeze them. Later, when you go back to eat them they are pretty solidly frozen so you can hold it in your hand or wrapped in aluminum foil for nostalgia’s sake. A take on the iconic Klondike Ice Cream Bar. Dinner then Dessert TIPS You can also mix the crumbs into the chocolate sauce if you would like but I wanted to have some with Oreo and some without so I didn’t do that. Peanuts and chopped almonds also make for a great mix-in.
