Tips for Making Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Garlic Pork Chops
- Prep time: To get the pork chops ready for the slow cooker add some vegetable oil to a pan and put it over medium heat. Add the pork chops and season them with salt and pepper. Brown the pork chops on both sides for about 2-3 minutes. Searing the pork chops in advance will make sure they get properly cooked through and give them a nice crispy outside.
- Cooking time: Place the pork chops in the slow cooker and rub the garlic and brown sugar over the top of the pork. Cook on low heat for 6 hours. You can decrease the cook times by increasing the heat of the slow cooker. However, the pork will turn out the most succulent and flavorful cooked low and slow.

I am thinking of making this but wonder if you could use an Instant Pot instead of. Crockpot?
We have a number of Instant Pot recipes on the site if you’d like to peruse them here: https://dinnerthendessert.com/?s=instant+pot
I haven’t tested this recipe using an Instant Pot.
Let us know what you decided to try!
Super easy, super cheap. Tastes great. Added a little balsamic vinegar to the crock pot. Had a Parmesan risotto on the side. Highly recommend. Thank you!
You’re welcome and thank you Al for the 5 star review!
Which type of pork chop would be best for this recipe?
Rib and loin chops are both yummy! Let us know which one you decide to use and how you liked the recipe!
Great flavor
I’m always looking for crock pot recipes for easy meals to fix while camping. I tried this one, super easy and a big hit with my camping friends. Only thing I did was use garlic powder instead of cloves and only 5 t of it instead of 6…I’ll make again and cut to 4 t though…thanks for the recipe!
You’re welcome Beck!
This recipe is amazing!!! Thank you! In a household of picky eaters…I made extra and there was not one crumb leftover. I served with baked rice.
Hi, I would like to do this recipe, but for two people . How long should I cook them ? Thank you ( I’ll cut ingredients down also)
If you hover over the word “Yield” in the Recipe you can slide the bar to the number 2 and the recipe will automatically adjust to feed two people! Enjoy the recipe
Just wondering: the recipe calls for inch-and-a-half bone-in pork chops, but none of the photos or video show chops that thick. They are more like 3/4 inch. What is the proper size chop?
I really want to make these tonight but I’d like to know if we’re supposed to add liquid to the slow cooker (I’ve always added at least some so what I’m making doesn’t burn). Please advise!! Thanks in advance!!!
No Liquid needed. The fat that is rendered off is enough. It’s a good recipe. Pretty sweet.
Simply devine, love love love this recipe and now trying others from your site. I love the detail in your posts, thank you.
My family absolutely loved this recipe. They said next time make more cuz they wanted more than 1 pork chop a piece. It’s a keeper recipe for sure.
Making these today! Can I do these garlic brown sugar pork chops and add honey as well?!
Thanks! 🙂
One of my favorite monthly recipes to do! Searing beforehand is a gamechanger! However, half the times I cook this, I forget I need to add some liquid because the recipe doesn’t list any!
SoI use chicken or beef broth, when I remember ?
These were amazing and so easy! The chops were super tender, and the meat literally fell off of the bone. I served it will sriracha and bbq sauces, and it was perfect! Plus made your green bean casserole recipe for a side. It was a big hit meal. Thanks!
This was so yummy and was a hit with the family!! I will be adding this to our rotation for dinners. Thank you for sharing.
there was no answer about the liquid added is there ? or no? tia
It’s answered above- No liquid needed bc the fat that drips off in the crock pot is enough. This is a great recipe!!
I started these late can I cook them on high for a Shorter amount of time or would they be tough?
Do I need to add any liquid to the pot?
Same question I had. Did anyone answer if you need to add liquid or not.
I made these pork chops the other day using only two pork chops. They were delicious but burnt to a crisp! My husband threw his out! It would seem that some liquid must be added. I plan to make them again tomorrow for company using 6 pork chops. Please respond regarding liquid is needed and if so what kind and how much. Thank you.
Think this would work with chicken? Or here’s a crazy idea, chicken and pork chops in the same crock pot? Or separate? Thanks!
I don’t think I would put chicken and pork together in a crock pot but I would most definitely try the recipe with chicken sometime.
Someone recommended using a broth, chicken or beef. I guess add accordingly to how many you are cooking and I think just go by your eye measurements ?
Can I use light brown sugar?
yes.
I made the honey garlic & followed instructions. Cooked 4 1/2 hours on Low. Excellent!! Fresh Green beans n mashed potatoes!!
how do I make gravy with this recipe?
What type of gravy would you like? I have a few gravy recipes on the site, along with the brown sugar glaze.
If I’m only cooking 2 large chops, do I still cook for the same amount of time?
That should be fine Yolanda, just keep an eye on it towards the end.
I work long hours. Could I put this on at 6:00 am and it be ok to cook on low until 6:00 pm?
Will this work with thin cut bone in pork chops ? Is there any liquid added ?
I am cooking now n it looks watery, not like the glaze on ur pictures. Did I do something wrong?
Nope! You are doing it right!
Wasn’t any left, this was delicious!
So easy and SO good!!
Do you add any liquid to crock pot ? Happy
I am only doing 3 chops so do I keep them in for 6hours?
These are so good! We shredded and put on buns.
If you use pork chops with no bones, do I need to add some liquid?
Hello! Could I put these straight in the crockpot without searing? I’m looking for something quick to throw in before leaving for work. Thanks!!
I’m sorry but I don’t have any information on that. You are more than welcome to try though 🙂
Hi Maria!
I’ve made this brown sugar pork chops recipe several times without searing them beforehand, they were amazing!!
Have you tried this with more than 6 pork chops?
I have not made it with more than six but I don’t see why not. The rules and times are the same. As long as the pork chops are fully cooked, I’m sure it will be fine.
I’m making these recipe right now, sounds delicious!do you think would be good to add some sliced apples also?
Sounds fun! Let me know how that goes!
Hello. Would like to try this but wondering if I could add potatoes in the crockpot as well?
You sure can Amber! Thanks for asking and let us know how it turns out!
I wanted to use boneless cuts from Costco. Had anyone tried this? They have thinner cuts and thicker cuts so I’m not sure which one to buy. Also, did anyone find out if any liquid is suppose to be added??
Made this for dinner tonight. Super easy and really delicious. I will be making this again and again.
