Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie recipes aren’t the strawberry smoothies you’ll find at most smoothie shops, but the flavors are so good you’ll never go back to the basic strawberry smoothie. We all look to the New Year and to better eating but no one wants to have flavor suffer in the name of health.  Did you know that only 8% of us end up sticking to all of our New Years Resolutions?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Burt’s Bees. The opinions and text are all mine and thanks to Burt’s Bees for the awesome breakfast smoothies all week! With 15g of plant-based protein in each serving, 70% organic ingredients, vitamin extracts made with real fruits and veggies, and with no GMOs, gluten, soy, dairy, artificial sweeteners or flavors, Burt’s Bees™ Plant-Based Protein Shakes are the perfect add-in to your favorite smoothie.  Oh and I should mention they also have a chocolate flavor which I’m pretty addicted to that I’ve been mixing with peanut butter for afternoon smoothies!Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie made with Burt’s Bees Vanilla Protein Shake powder makes the most amazing cake-y healthy smoothie you'll want to help shake up healthier eating. One of my favorite things about these protein shakes is there is no gritty taste at all. It’s sweetened only slightly with honey, monk fruit extract and Stevia leaf extract.  Since the Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie is made with Greek yogurt, the slightly sweetened mixture along with the vanilla wafers gives you all the sweetness you need with no added sugars.

Smoothies are a fantastic way to enjoy on-the-go (especially if you have little ones or commute to work on public transportation and you’re eating while on the run). They’re also perfect for kids who are picky and won’t eat breakfast.  We made this recipe and the kids were in the car on the way to school sipping on smoothies (total parenting win.) And they were convinced it was a “strawberry cookie ‘moothie'” so I didn’t even have a fight on my hands. Even more amazing (and I know parents will agree with me here) it is infinitely more desirable to those pouches we all get stuck buying for our little ones.

All Burt’s Bees™ Protein Shake formulas include a vitamin blend extracted from real fruits and vegetables including spinach, broccoli, carrot, beet, tomato, shiitake mushroom, apple, cranberry, cherry, orange, blueberry and strawberry. Good luck normally fitting all those into your morning smoothies without some help from Burt’s Bees.

There are a lot of products out there that are using animal based proteins. Burt’s Bees is using a plant-based protein formula instead with five protein sources – Pea, Rice, Flaxseed, Sunflower Seed and Oat. This combination provides a complete essential amino acid profile. The protein shake has 70% organic ingredients and no artificial sweeteners or flavors. Even more amazing (especially to a private chef who has clients with food allergies) is that they’re dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free. Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie made with Burt’s Bees Vanilla Protein Shake powder makes the most amazing cake-y healthy smoothie you'll want to help shake up healthier eating. If you love the idea of the Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie but want to play around with some different flavors here are some more ideas for you:

  • If you want a strawberry banana smoothie, pull back the milk to ½ cup and add in a very ripe banana.
  • For raspberry, add in one pint of raspberries and just a couple of strawberries or half an apple to help bulk up the fruit.
  • Mango fan? Swap out strawberries for one very ripe mango and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
  • Want to throw in something green? I routinely add a half a cup of spinach to smoothies when I give them to the kids in non-see through cups. The pretty pink color won’t shine through like it does in this one but the flavors are almost exactly the same and yay for spinach. Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie made with Burt’s Bees Vanilla Protein Shake powder makes the most amazing cake-y healthy smoothie you'll want to help shake up healthier eating.
