Sabrina’s Garlic Lemon Asparagus Recipe

My Garlic Lemon Asparagus is the perfect way to enjoy this fresh spring veggie! The naturally earthy, slightly sweet flavor pairs perfectly with bright, tart citrus and bold aromatic garlic. My recipe uses the steaming method for stalks that are tender enough to bite into but still have a bit of that fresh crisp. It’s so quick and easy, but full of flavor, this is sure to be your new favorite vegetable side. Plus it’s fancy enough to pair with your Passover or Easter feasts!

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch asparagus spears , about 2 pounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 lemon , juiced and zested
  • 2 cloves garlic , finely minced

Instructions

  • Add water to the bottom of a large pot on high heat.
  • Insert a steamer bucket.
  • Trim the bottom of the asparagus. To test where to trim, gently bend one stalk in your hands and see where it naturally snaps near the end.
  • If stalks are thick, peel them with a peeler.
  • Add asparagus to the steamer basket and steam for 5 minutes for thin stalks and 7 minutes for thicker stalks.
  • Remove from basket to serving tray, toss with olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest and minced garlic.
