Edamame is a favorite restaurant appetizer that cooks easily from frozen. This recipe adds a rich, garlicky twist that’s easy to make.
Delicious and tender edamame makes an excellent appetizer recipe to go with your favorite Asian Meals, such as Spicy Garlic Beef Stir Fry and Slow Cooker Sesame Chicken.
Sabrina’s Edamame Recipe
The buttery snap of an edamame bean is so satisfying. You can cook edamame still in the shells, but I recommend removing them, so that the delicious garlicky flavor reaches the edamame instead of just the outer skin, which is fibrous and inedible. You can purchase frozen edamame already shelled or shell them yourself by using your thumbs to squeeze the edamame pods until the edamame pops out the side.

Ingredients
- 1 pound edamame , frozen
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
- 1 cloves garlic , grated
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
Instructions
- In a large skillet add 1 cup water and the edamame on high heat and bring to a boil, cooking for 5 minutes.
- Remove edamame and water, wiping dry with paper towels and add in the vegetable oil and garlic, stirring and cooking until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce, stir and add in edamame, salt and pepper.
- Toss to combine, sprinkle with additional kosher salt before serving if desired.
