Chef’s Note

Frozen daiquiris melt quickly, so have your glasses ready before you blend. You can pop your glasses in the freezer for 20 minutes before serving to help your daiquiri stay frosty and slushy longer.

Can this be made ahead of time?

For the best smooth and slushy texture, serve right after blending. If serving a large group, mix the rum, citrus, and sugar 1-2 days in advance, and refrigerate it. Then blend with the Sprite, frozen strawberries, and ice before serving.

How to Store

  • Serve: For best results, serve right after blending.
  • Store: Pour the drink into an airtight container or cover the glass, to keep fresh for up to 1 week in the refrigerator. Storing the mixture in a mason jar is a great option. Throw in the freezer for 60 minutes to get it partially icy, then blend briefly before serving.
  • Freeze: To freeze leftovers, transfer to an airtight, freezer-safe container, and freeze for up to 1 month. Let soften at room temperature for 10-15 minutes, then blend briefly to restore texture. Add a small splash of Sprite if needed to help blend.

Ideas to Serve

Instead of pouring the drink into glasses right away, you can make a large batch and pour it into a gallon sized pitcher. Put the pitcher in an ice bath to keep the frozen drink chill, and put out glasses so your guests can help themselves whenever they want. This is an excellent option for a summer cookout.
