Yogurt Parfait is an incredibly easy breakfast made from layers of sweet vanilla yogurt, berries, granola, and honey, ready in 5 minutes!

Yogurt Parfait is an insanely easy breakfast and simple recipe made by layering creamy yogurt with fresh raspberries and strawberries, then topping with granola and a drizzle of sweet honey. It’s fast, healthy, and easy which makes it the PERFECT breakfast to make on the go on busy weekdays.

You can use whatever type of yogurt you prefer, like regular yogurt or Greek yogurt depending on your preference. You can also make dessert parfaits by layering the fresh fruit with plain yogurt and a drizzle of honey on top. With just a handful of ingredients, fruit yogurt parfaits are a healthy breakfast option!

One of the best things about a yogurt and granola parfait is that it has a lot of really colorful layers, so we recommend serving this in a see-through glass for presentation. If serving this to guests, you can also garnish parfaits with mint leaves and a sprinkle of cinnamon! And since breakfast is one of the best times of the day, this week you can serve up French Toast Muffins, Breakfast Casserole, and Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cake!

About our Yogurt Parfait Recipe

Homemade yogurt parfaits are the best! Imagine scooping into layers of creamy yogurt mixed with crunchy granola, with a handful of fresh strawberries and raspberries thrown into the mix. The finishing touch? A drizzle of honey that’s not overpowering, but just right.

Our take on the parfait is pretty straightforward. We love using vanilla yogurt because of its rich flavor. The strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries? They’re not just there for color—they add a fruity punch. And the honey? It’s the little detail that ties everything together. Give it a try, and you might just find your new favorite snack!

What is a Parfait?

The name “parfait” (PAR-fay) originates from the French word meaning “perfect.” Traditionally, a parfait in France referred to a kind of frozen dessert, but in English-speaking countries, it has come to represent the layered yogurt, fruit, and granola dish.

Can I prepare Yogurt Parfait Ahead of Time?

Layer the yogurt and fruit in a to-go container and seal it tightly in the refrigerator. Then when ready to eat, add the topping at the last second. If you add the topping too early, it will end up a little bit soggy and you won’t get that nice crunchy texture we’re looking for.

  • Granola (1 cup): Provides an essential crunchy contrast to the yogurt and fruit. Substitute: Toasted oats, cereal, or mixed nuts for a similar crunch. You can use your favorite granola mix.

Yogurt Parfait Recipe Tips & Tricks

Remember, the key to a great parfait is the consistency of your yogurt. Opt for thicker variants for well-defined layers. Share your favorite parfait tips in the comments!

  • Granola Crunch: Add granola just before eating to maintain its crunch, preventing it from becoming soggy due to the yogurt.
  • Berries Choice: Fresh berries give a sweet touch, but slightly thawed frozen berries can add a cold burst to the parfait.
  • Flavor Boost: Mix a dash of vanilla extract or a hint of cinnamon into the yogurt for added depth.
  • Peanut Butter Banana Parfait: Stir your yogurt with some powdered peanut butter, then layer with bananas and honey for a peanut butter banana parfait!
  • Crunchy Parfait: Add some chopped pecans, walnuts, or peanuts to give your parfait some extra crunchy texture.
  • Yogurt on the Go: Use a mason jar as a grab-and-go container that’s both easy to pack and will let you see the layers through the glass!
  • Toppings: Top your parfait with some mini chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream for a sweeter version.

How to Store Yogurt Parfait

Storing leftover yogurt parfait properly is essential to enjoy its creamy texture and freshness later on. It’s best to place any remaining yogurt parfait in an airtight container, ensuring the layers remain distinct. This prevents the granola from becoming too soggy and nobody likes soggy granola. If you’ve prepared the parfait in a glass or jar, simply cover it tightly with plastic wrap or a lid. Refrigerate immediately and consume within a day for the best flavor.

Parfaits should not be frozen as their consistency will not be as ideal when thawed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute Greek yogurt for vanilla yogurt in the parfait?

Absolutely! Greek yogurt will give the parfait a tangier and thicker texture. If you prefer a sweeter profile, consider adding a bit more honey or a natural sweetener of your choice. You can also use plain yogurt.

I ran out of granola. What else can I use for the crunch?

No granola? No worries! You can use cereal from the box, crushed nuts, toasted oats, chia seeds, or even crushed cookies as an alternative layer for that desired crunch.

My parfait turned out too watery. What went wrong?

Using fruits that release a lot of juice, like pineapples or overripe berries, can make your parfait watery. Next time, pat your fruits dry or use fruits that retain moisture like bananas or mangoes.

Can I make a yogurt parfait a day ahead?

Yes, you can prepare a yogurt parfait in advance, but it’s best to store the granola separately to keep it crunchy. Add the granola just before serving to maintain its crispness.

Is there a vegan option for this yogurt parfait?

Certainly! Swap out the dairy yogurt for a plant-based alternative like coconut or almond yogurt. Ensure your granola is vegan, and use maple syrup or agave nectar instead of honey.

Can I add other fruits to my yogurt parfait?

Definitely. Parfaits are versatile, and you can mix and match fresh fruits based on seasonal availability or personal preference. From kiwi to mangoes to pomegranate seeds, the possibilities are endless! Just about any kind of frozen fruit is good too!
